NaBloPoMo Day #4 - Blogging Ideas
by Nathan on Nov.04, 2009, under Miscellaneous
This post is kind of a cop out, but if I”m going to stick with this NaBloPoMo thing, I’m going to have to take the easy way out a few times. Since starting NaBloPoMo (a whole 3 days ago), I’ve been frantically trying to think of things to blog about. In my first year of blogging, I wrote 64 post. In the next 26 days, I have to write 26 post. That’s a 571.875% increase in my posting rate. I know what you are thinking. Isn’t it a 570.3125% increase? No! you are forgetting that 2008 was a leap year. Silly you. Anyways, here is my list of ideas so far:
- Conversations with Nate Dogg
- The Ramblings of a Mad Man
- Earl and the Ninja Duck (A Children’s Story)
- The History of Earl (Cat Pictures)
- Everywhere I have lived via Google Street View
- Self Driving Cars and Virtual Bubbles
- Staying Positive Amidst all the Crazy
- My
ObsessionLoveFondness of Lily Allen - The Self Aware Universe

- Countries I Would Add to Epcot
- The Wine Cube
- Remodeling my Bathroom
- Tour of My Condo
- Places I’d like to go
- NaBloPoMo - Looking Back (My last NaBloPoMo post)

Ok, I have two suggestions for you…feel free to attempt or ignore. I’m basing my suggestions on two of my favorite “thinking” games… 1) Would you rather? and 2) “Kill, F*ck, Marry”. Notice I used a “*” in case the children are reading.
“Would you rather?” — Pretty simple, given two options you declare your choice and explain why. This gets much better depending on the question asked. For example, “would you rather?: be able to fly - or - be able to read minds” is lame. On the other hand, “would you rather?: never be able to have sex ever again - or - have sex with a walrus one time on public television, and then have sex with whomever you wanted the rest of your life” is probably my favorite “would you rather” to date. I would love to see you debate this question, but there are hundreds out there to choose from.
“Kill, F*ck, Marry” — Given three choices, who would you kill, who would you f*ck, and who would you marry. Again, this is much more interesting depending on the options. To make the decision interesting, I suggest starting with three people who would normally all fall into the same decision, if not for the constraints of the game (i.e. all three gorgeous celebrities, or all three disgusting women you hate). It is interesting to see who would get “killed” or who you would resign yourself to “marrying”. Also, feel free to call this game “Kill, Do Dishes, Marry”… (see, I was paying attention)
As you can see, I have put some time into these suggestions. Therefore, it would actually be funny for you to *not* choose one of these, given the fact that you are seeking out ideas
I think what makes these two admittedly-childish concepts work in a blog is that the fun lies not in the choice, but in the explanation.

KFM suggestions -
Preface: I’m trying to avoid women you’ve already blogged about. Your decisions wouldn’t be very surprising if I came at you with “Paris, Hayden, and Reece”. Also, the game is funniest when each person gets varying degrees of “options” in multiple rounds. Therefore, I will give you three sets of three, feel free to blog about one or all three.
A). Marisa Miller, Heidi Klum, Jessica Biel
B). Lady GaGa, Kathy Griffin, Scary Spice
C). Rosie O’Donnell, Barbara Streisand, Amy Winehouse
Who knows if these are even that great of choices, but it could be funny.

Sorry, but the bathroom remodel has already been done
(http://mylifeindigits.blogspot.com/2009/04/what-began-as-bathroom-remodel-ended-up.html) but any of the other thoughts are good. I could add one of pictures of tweezing your nose hairs or why blogging is more painful.

Look at that! I’m top on the list…….screw the 7 other “ideas”. You are striking gold with the first one. But keep in mind, if you try to spin it, and not give a “real” account of things…..I’ll be back on here setting the record straight for all your readers!

I have no ideas, but just wanted to wish you good luck in your quest. I know I wouldn’t be able to do it.
